THAT’s a Keeper!

In the morning I listen to the radio but keep FNC on with closed-caption just in case nuclear war breaks out or something (I’m only half-kidding… *sigh*).  There’s also the issue of I kinda can’t stand morning t.v. in general, and most of the hosts, Fox included, in particular.  Smarm annoys me.  Anyway… I look over and there’s Julie Andrews being interviewed on the 50th anniversary of “The Sound of Music.”  I start reading the CC. She’s asked what was the best piece of advice she ever got as a performer was and this was it, below:

I’ve already decided I’m taking it. Mine. Mine. Mine. I might give ol’ Julie credit… Occasionally… Well… Actually, I’ll give her credit EVERY time, not the least reason of which is that if it comes from Mom it’s just another day, but if it comes from someone else, my teenage daughters might pay attention! Those of you with teenagers know what I’m talking about.

What an AWESOME piece of advice, Madame! One I had actually never heard before! THANK YOU.

BTW: Her favorite song from TSOM? “Edelweiss.” Why? She said because it had a “haunting” quality, that “any song about one’s homeland” speaks to her and she believed this song, though about Austria, could be about anyone’s love for their home country. I like that. Nice thought. It was always my favorite, too! But for a different reason: I’ve just always been a sucker for a hot guy with a guitar, but I’m just that kind of girl… Or I used to be 🙂
