UPDATED! -> Ted Cruz’s Obamatrade Betrayal

UPDATE 3: Tuesday, June 23, 2015, 8:18am.
THANK GOD!!!!! Cruz has had a change of heart on Obamatrade and will vote NO today!!!! You can read his full explanation here or below, as excerpted from Breitbart’s exclusive. Thus, he will continue to receive my full $upport for President!

Exclusive – Ted Cruz: Obamatrade Enmeshed in Corrupt, Backroom Dealings

(By Senator Ted Cruz): The American people do not trust President Obama. And they do not trust Republican leadership in Congress. And the reason is simple: for far too long, politicians in Washington have not told the truth.

Both President Obama and Republican leadership are pressing trade promotion authority, also known as TPA, or “fast-track.” and both oppose it.

As a general matter, I agree (as did Ronald Reagan) that free trade is good for America; when we open up foreign markets, it helps American farmers, ranchers, and manufacturers.

But TPA in this Congress has become enmeshed in corrupt Washington backroom deal-making, along with serious concerns that it would open up the potential for sweeping changes in our laws that trade agreements typically do not include.

Since the Senate first voted on TPA, there have been two material changes:

First, WikiLeaks subsequently revealed new troubling information regarding… immigration…

Second, TPA’s progress through the House and Senate appears to have been made possible by secret deals between Republican Leadership and the Democrats… It appears (House Speaker Boehner) made (a) deal with Democrats..

Enough is enough. I cannot vote for TPA unless McConnell and Boehner both commit publicly to allow the Ex-Im Bank to expire—and stay expired. And, Congress must also pass the Cruz-Sessions amendments to TPA to ensure that no trade agreement can try to back-door changes to our immigration laws. Otherwise, I will have no choice but vote no…

It’s a time for truth. And a time to honor our commitments to the voters.

UPDATE 2: Tuesday, June 16, 2015, 5:17am.
Okay. I’ve had a few days to think about it. To ruminate. To stew. Here’s what I’ve decided: We will never, none of us, have a “perfect” candidate. Perfection can’t be a goal; that’s childish. What we can do is seek a born leader, one with a record of unimpeachable integrity, and the intellectual courage to seek opinions which differ from his own. I believe Cruz meets that test… but if he tries to use weasel words again when clearly having been caught not having read the entire bill, or not answering, point-by-point, very legitimate concerns, in this case, raised by Senator Sessions, a colleague he respects, and falling back on ‘only the legislative branch can make law’ as an answer when asked about them, he may permanently piss-me off, because then he may reveal himself to be irretrievably arrogant, thus, unable to be helped by a ‘team of rivals’ should he find himself at 1600 Penn… and then, he would just be a way-smarter version of Obama… and we can’t have that.

(The original blog post below was first published on June 6, 2015.)

“If Paul Ryan was my canary, Ted Cruz is my coal-mine.”
Ted Cruz 2016 I just removed this Ted Cruz button that use to reside at the top of the right hand column here on my blog. I broke my long-standing policy of not supporting individuals (versus a principle, which will never let you down). Silly me. This is the tweet that set me off this morning:

It’s not that I am a fair-weather friend, or a Sunshine Patriot. I still believe him to be a good & honorable man who would be a superb leader in some large capacity, as Attorney General, or as a Supreme Court Justice, and yes, even as *President.

But his support for Obamatrade is so wrong-headed I can’t… understand it. This is a guy who should know better. When a decision is this inexplicable it can only mean one of two things:  ignorance/stupidity, or cravenness/corruption.

Well, we know he’s not a stupid man. Perhaps ignorance?  (As distinguished from stupidity, which cannot be remedied.  Ignorance is merely a state of un-knowing.) Is it a matter of not having read or properly understood some crucial sections?  That’s not an attractive alternative, either.  That would make him unforgivably derelict in his duties to the people of Texas (and to us, as a presidential candidate).

So that leaves cravenness or corruption.  At least so far, he has seemed immune to the pressures of being bought off, which is the very thing that has pissed-off everyone royally and made him so hotly unpopular, and thus, made him so attractive to me. (Being able to “buy” a Senator is to be able to control him.  His fellow Senator$ and lobbyist$ couldn’t control him, and that just drives them bat-guano insane.)

So how to explain this? Other than a promise of money, I just can’t understand what could possibly motivate this very smart guy to support this disastrous bill! When you are trying to understand an inexplicable change, it’s useful see if there has been any change to the status quo, anything that caused a disruption, or shift in the dynamic.  The only thing that I can see that has changed between “explicable” behavior and “inexplicable” behavior has been his announcement to run for President. He sure as sh*t isn’t getting any help from the deep, deep coffers of the GOP, nor any of their “ground game” operations, so he’s going to need big, big money from somewhere… Perhaps the Chamber of Commerce is buying him? I don’t get it! I just can’t understand this.  There’s nothing in his behavior I’ve seen these last few years, nor in his record, which I’ve done some reading on, which would suggest his “soul” is, or ever has been, for sale.  I mean, good grief, if ever anyone could have sold-out to save himself a steaming onslaught of sh*t from this, that, or the other thing, it’s him, many, many times before now and he never did it.

Add to this his new cowardice by refusing to be interviewed on the matter by even “friendly” media, most notably to me WRKO’s Jeff Kuhner who just held a hugely successful town hall for him in New Hampshire just 10 days ago!

What. The. Hell?

This is why I never support people, only principles. I broke my rule and I got burned. It’s still possible he could come to his senses, regain his courage and clarity and make a credible mea-culpa, but until it does, not another penny.

BONUS:  The tweet that set me off also features Paul Ryan, another one who has let me down.  I remember when Mitt Romney picked him for a running-mate I was genuinely excited.  Now I look back and am ashamed I was as emotional as an Obama voter.  Mitt’s an exceptionally good & charitable man, but he’s a squishy RINO.  Paul Ryan also appears to “get it” about America, but he, too, has proven to be inexplicably “establishment.”

If Paul Ryan was my canary, Ted Cruz is my coal-mine.

The Charleston Shooting & Tea Party America

This… x 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.

I could not have explained my feelings on the Charleston shooting, or why I am Tea Party, any better than this TownHall article (below the line). I agree with every single syllable of it. It is as pure a distillation, with absolutely sparkling clarity, on what I think and why I think it, as I have ever seen.

And while, by virtue of choosing it as his opening sentence, Mr. Hawkins clearly meant for us to pay special attention to it and what flows from it, the sentence, in isolation, really deserves to be marinated in our own quiet contemplation all by itself:  “The mass murder of nine innocent black Americans attending a Bible study in a Charleston church by a drug-addled, racist, terrorist thug was as close to universally condemned as anything can be in a country like America.”

What he’s saying here, if you take the time to really let it sink in, is that, in a country where something like 20% of the population thinks Elvis is still alive, 99% of us condemn the actions of the shooter in Charleston!  (Sure doesn’t sound like a country with “pervasive” “structural” racism, hm?  Remember the OJ verdict?  How black America cheered and white America sat slack-jawed?  I don’t see white America cheering the Charleston shooter, do you? I’m just throwing it out there as an example of what a truly racist nation might do in the wake of Charleston.  Whites would cheer, right?)

And what about the 1%?  Well, unless you re-engineer human DNA into something barely resembling a terrestrial homo-sapien, there will… wait for it… always be racists among us!  That’s why the the constant, reflexive hectoring from Obama et.al. is so offensive to so many of us.  “We” (America) doesn’t “need to have a conversation on race.”  We need to recognize that we are human, that evil exists, and because of both stubborn facts, there is no amount of big government that will ever produce a progressive utopia where these things never happen.  So whaddaya say we ascribe the same level of caution to white America and the hideous incident in Charleston, that we do to shootings preceded by “Allah Akbar”, hm, Mr. President?  (“This is not the true face of Islam.”) Well, Charleston is not the true face of white America.  So stop shaking your finger at us Mr. President and start lifting us up, and embracing the good and generous heart of this great nation.

And thank you, Mr. Hawkins for the brilliant article below!

An Open Letter To Black Americans About The Mass Murder In Charleston

6/20/2015 12:01:00 AM – John Hawkins
The mass murder of nine innocent black Americans attending a Bible study in a Charleston church by a drug-addled, racist, terrorist thug was as close to universally condemned as anything can be in a country like America. Expressions of sorrow over what happened and loathing for the killer are everywhere. Moreover, the shooter was quickly apprehended and the governor of South Carolina has already called for the death penalty. Hopefully, she’ll get her wish.

Supposedly, the shooter had the same lunatic dream as Charles Manson did back in 1969: he was hoping to start a race war.

That won’t work any better today than it did back in the sixties.

However, what this evil piece of human debris did manage to do is sow a little more hatred and division between Americans. There are already enough people doing that.

We always have ghouls who gleefully try to exploit every tragedy for their own political ends and there are more of them than ever before. They’re trying to tie this into their campaigns against police, trying to whip up voter registration, trying to convince black Americans that white people in general and conservative whites in particular hate their guts.

It would be nice to just shrug that off, but it has become so easy for people to talk past each other in today’s social-media-driven environment where every molehill is blown up and repeated and intensified until it’s made to look like a mountain. So, I want to try to cut through the clutter.

I think of myself as a typical white Tea Party conservative. I’m pro-cop, tough on crime, anti-Affirmative Action and I can’t stand Obama. In fact, if you put pretty much any black liberal (or for that matter, any liberal) and me in a room, we probably wouldn’t agree on ANYTHING political.

There are liberals who will tell you all day long that people like me are racist, that we hate black Americans and we secretly send “dog whistles” to each other about it all day long. If you believe them, you’d think people like me don’t care about black Americans at best and want to see them suffer at worst.

Now, here’s the truth about me and people like me.

I support the policies I do because I think they’re good for all Americans, including black Americans.

I think tough policing benefits black Americans more than anyone because they’re most likely to be the victims of crime. I think Affirmative Action undercuts the accomplishments of deserving black Americans by making people wonder if they earned their achievements. I think Obama has been a disaster not just for America as a whole, but for black Americans in particular. Given the fact that liberal policies have been failing black Americans for fifty years, I think I can make a good case for what I’m saying.

Of course, if you look at it a different way, I understand that, but since I can give you a coherent, intellectual explanation for why I think the way I do, you should at least give me the benefit of the doubt when I tell you I don’t hate you.

The words “racism” and “bigotry” get tossed around so quickly and easily these days that they’ve lost a lot of their meaning. So, rather than talking about those words, let me just say this: I don’t think anyone is inferior because of his skin color. I think black Americans are just capable as white Americans. In fact, I think people should be judged by merit and the content of their character, not skin color. People are just people.

So, we may disagree. In fact, if you’re a black Democrat, we probably disagree on a lot of things. But, I want you to know that people like me don’t hate you. We may oppose you and we may support policies you don’t like, but it’s not out of hatred. It’s because we love our country and because we want as many Americans as possible to be successful and have good lives. Disagree with us all day long, but no matter what anyone tells you, we don’t hate you.

The Obama Doctrine’s Perfect Analogy

“As far as it’s possible to make out, the Obama Doctrine for the Mideast consisted of an abandonment of our traditional allies in favor of the Muslim Brotherhood, the ur-terror organization that gave birth to al-Qaeda and eventually ISIS. Allowed to take over in Egypt and encouraged in several other states, the Brotherhood was treated as a government-in-waiting — as if the Mafia was being encouraged to take over Italy.”

Heartily recommend this piece in its entirety, Recovering from Obama: Foreign Policy, at American Thinker. It’s brilliant.

*Obama’s* Triple-Crown

 This. Is. Not. A. Joke.

From long-time, very-inside-Obama’s-little-circle-jerk-of-yes-men, Dan Pfeiffer, who’s been with him since the ’08 campaign. I can’t even explain this. One brilliant Twitter reply gets a gold-star for effort. And snark.:

And for the win:

And just for the record, “accomplishment” is defined as:

"a special skill or ability gained by practice or training"

Doesn’t say anything about just… standing there… when it happens.

h/t Twitchy

This. Is. Stunning.

UPDATE #2 SAT 06/06/2015 8:15am:  As expected none of the eunuch-palace-scribes at either the White House or State Department briefings asked about Gertz’s findings.  I even checked to see if D.O.D./Pentagon was having a briefing or had had one recently and they just linked to State.  Gosh, I miss journalism.

UPDATE #1 FRI 06/05/2015 8:30am:  I wonder if  The New York Times was “asked” to write the inane Editorial I commented & blogged on just the other day because The White House knew this piece from Gertz was coming? Things that make you go ‘hmm’.

This is quite possibly the worst thing ever written about any American president ever by quite possibly the best reporter on intelligence matters in America, Bill Gertz (And that’s not just my opinion.  Mr. Gertz is widely regarded as the “go-to” guy for his razor-sharp mind and deep & impeccable sources.  The only other reporter I would put anywhere near him is Catherine Herridge of Fox News.)

I know I sound hyperbolic, but dear GodGertz is basically reporting that our President has given aid & comfort to the enemy.  And not just any enemy.  This enemy ties each of a woman’s arms and legs to four cars then speeds off (yeah…), rapes an 8 year old girl in front of her family then makes each watch while the others get beheaded one by one, crucifies 3 year old boys, drops gays off rooftops, plays soccer with decapitated heads… burns a caged man alive… I mean… even members of the administration have said publicly they’ve never seen such depravity.

This charge about Obama has been made made many, many, many times before, but never from a source as universally respected as Gertz.  The only thing wrong with it is the White House Press Corps, most prominently ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, NPR, The New York Times, The Washington Post, will never, ever, ever touch it because Gertz now writes for a “right-wing” source (He published this in The Washington Times, but he also writes for The Washington Free Beacon, a newer paper without the sort of strange background as the WT).  It might possibly come up at a State Department briefing.  Possibly even a Pentagon briefing.  If it does, I’ll update.)

Damn.

I’m still sort of thunderstruck so I’ll just stop here and invite you to read the American Thinker’s take on it, below.

Via The American Thinker – Gertz Expose: Pentagon docs show Obama supports Muslim Brotherhood
June 5, 2015
By James Lewis

Bill Gertz, top Pentagon reporter for the Washington Times has just reported that “Obama secretly backed Muslim Brotherhood.”  The Brotherhood is literally a fascist Muslim radical group from the Nazi period.

Writes Gertz:
President Obama and his administration continue to support the global Islamist militant group known the Muslim Brotherhood. A White House strategy document regards the group as a moderate alternative to more violent Islamist groups like al Qaeda and the Islamic State.” (Aka ISIS).

The policy of backing the Muslim Brotherhood is outlined in a secret directive called Presidential Study Directive-11[.] … The directive was produced in 2011[.] …

Efforts to force the administration to release the directive or portions of it under the Freedom of Information Act have been unsuccessful. …

The directive outlines why the administration has chosen the Muslim Brotherhood, which last year was labeled a terrorist organization by the governments of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates as a key vehicle of U.S. backing for so-called political reform in the Middle East. …

The UAE government also has labeled two U.S. affiliates of the Muslim Brotherhood, the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Muslim American Society, as terrorist support groups. Both groups denied the UAE claims. Egypt is considering imposing a death sentence on Mohamed Morsi, the Muslim Brotherhood-backed former president who was ousted in military coup in July 2013.

Critics of the administration’s strategy say the Brotherhood masks its goals and objectives despite advocating an extremist ideology similar to those espoused by al Qaeda and the Islamic State, but with less violence. The group’s motto includes the phrase “jihad is our way.” Jihad means holy war and is the Islamist battle cry.

Counterterrorism analyst Patrick Poole said the Brotherhood in recent weeks has stepped up its use of violent attacks in Egypt.

The Muslim Brotherhood is called the “Ikhwan” in Arabic, meaning “brotherhood.”  (Like German “ich” and “won.”)  It took that name in 1928, when fascist and Nazi “brotherhoods” were spreading all over Europe.

From the start, the Ikhwan actively collaborated with Hitler through the mufti of Jerusalem.  One of their slogans is “All we want is to die in the way of Allah” – which means killing as many infidels as you can when you die.  This is the theological basis for suicide-bombing.  Today, there is no daylight between the Ikhwan and ISIS.

In 1981, an Ikhwan front group assassinated Pres. Anwar Sadat, the most important Arab peacemaker with Israel.

The Ikhwan employs Malik Obama, the president’s half-brother, as a big money man.

The Ikhwan created Hamas – the terrorist group that uses children as human shields to protect rocket launchers in Gaza.

The Ikhwan helped neo-Ottoman fascist Erdoğan to take over Turkey.

The Ikhwan is almost certainly behind ISIS, together with Turkey and Qatar.

In 2011, the Ikhwan overthrew Egypt’s President Hosni Mubarak – who upheld the Egypt-Israel peace treaty for four decades – in close collusion with Obama, Code Pink, and Bill Ayers.  The Western media actually reported that  Code Pink and Bill Ayers were protesting Hosni Mubarak in the weeks before Mubarak was overthrown.  Today, millions of Egyptians believe that Obama supports their mortal enemy, the Ikhwan.

The Ikhwan is now engaged in a monumental civil war against President El Sisi, whose court just condemned its leader to death.  Their leaders who are not in jail have fled to Qatar, Turkey, and Gaza, all part of the Ikhwan network.

The Ikhwan controls American front groups like CAIR, which buys up American politicians by the truckload, especially on the left.

Four-star admiral James Lyons (USN, Ret.) has gone public with the charge that the Ikhwan has deeply penetrated U.S. intelligence.  That is why Obama can’t even say the words “Muslim war on America.”  That is why our defense has been so feeble and cringing.

Hillary Clinton’s closest personal aide as SecState was Huma Abedin – an Ikhwan insider.  Abedin was one of the few people who had access to Hillary’s illegal personal e-mail account on the night of Benghazi.  Nothing has changed – Abedin is still at the top of the Hillary campaign.  Probably for the first time in U.S. history, presidential candidate Hillary has stonewalled any media questions, period.

Major Ikhwan money flows have been reported going to the Clintons, the Carters, and Obama.  Ikhwan penetration of American society and the U.S. government gives all the appearance of a political quid pro quo – with our survival at stake.

Bill Gertz’s Pentagon documents now prove the Ikhwan connection directly.  The liberal media will try to stifle the facts, as always.

Maybe this time they will fail.
