"Family Time?"

From The Hill:

“Before the (3 hour) dinner (w/out the kids at a restaurant in Honolulu), Obama hit the links, spending nearly 7 hours at the Ko’olau golf club with Mike Ramos, Greg Orme and long-time friend Robert Titcomb, who earlier this year plead no contest to soliciting a prostitute in Honolulu.
”

I thought Bam-Bam was supposed to be spending precious time with his daughters, right?  He’s golfed every day, for 5 to 7 hours, every day he’s been on vacation save one, I think.

Look… Makes no never-mind to me how someone spends their own money or vacation time, but don’t shine me on telling me it’s all about the kids, okay?

"Charity" Under Threat of Audit is NOT Charity

Every time I hear Obama talk about how the federal government has to “invest” in education, research, etc., and “spend” on the “social safety net” I wonder… Does he think we’re all a bunch of bloodless selfish pr*cks like him?  That we wouldn’t organize locally to take care of our own?  Why can’t the state / counties / towns take care of things?  Why do the Feds have to do everything?

America is great because is America is good.  Obama seems to not believe that.  Listen to him and ask yourself:  Why do you (the Feds) have to do it?  I’m here.  We’re here.  We’ll do it.  Just let us keep our damned money.  If you’re really feeling generous, incentivize us by giving us a tax deduction.  You want efficient use of American dollars to help people?  Match charitable giving.  Every kid who can handle one will get a college education.  Every down & out person will get their “fair shot” locally…

We don’t want your crappy government handouts to be the first stop, we want it to be the last stop you moron!  Don’t you know that?

Year of the Cat: A Perfect Pop Song

A day after Christmas, I am luxuriating in the way-cool Bose Sound Link my husband gave me and it led to this thought:

Al Stewart’s seminal song “Year of the Cat” is as about as perfect a pop song as has ever been created. I’ve actually had this thought before, and for a long time, but enjoying it anew, on my cool new toy, linked via bluetooth from my iPhone, brought it to mind yet again.  Another masterpiece of pop music, for other reasons, would be Billy Joel’s “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant.”

Every layer, every note, every little second of them is perfectly pitched, played & placed.  I’ve had this thought about 2 or 3 other songs but for the life of me I can’t recall them right now!  And I like to think that this conclusion of mine is not a matter of taste so much as an empirical observation of achievement.

Every damned thing about “Year of the Cat” is perfect.  The writing, playing, editing, mixing, engineering, all of it.  If you really, really listen to it, as I have ‘lo these many years, in sonically engineered broadcast studios with professional quality monitors, and on headphones way, way too loud, you hear it.  It’s layers are just magnificent.  That’s not to say you have to listen to it too loud or in optimal conditions to appreciate its beauty, but you do have to listen consciously, if you know what I mean…

I actually had the pleasure of meeting Peter White several times, who did the cool guitar solo on that record.  He’s got a career of his own now, doing Smooth Jazz, a lot of it very good.

Oh!  The smell of the leather on the Sound Link is delicious. And it feels really good in your hand.  Substantial.

Tea Party Flags vs. OWS Masks

I chuckled, bitterly, when I saw Time magazine’s 2011 year-end issue (see below) featuring OWS, remembering that in 2009’s year-end issue – the year OWS’s predecessor / polar-opposite Tea Party was born & became a cultural phenomenon – Time magazine made no mention of them.  Zero.  Zip. Nada.  An astonishing omission, for a “news” magazine, truly.

Remember:  Tea Party = 0 arrests.  OWS = 4,500+

Tea Party is the first movement in the history of human-kind to take to the streets to demand their leaders give them less.  Think about that.  They have been 100% peaceful, leaving the public spaces they obtained & paid for permits to gather on, cleaner than when they arrived.

OWS is out there leaving literally tons of filth & trash, pooping on police cruisers, pooping on people’s front steps, committing acts of violence, vandalism, and rape, putting small businesses out of business, marching past billionaire hedge fund George Soros’ Manhattan townhouse on their way to terrorize the wives & children in Republican hedge fund Manhattan townhouses, causing all kinds of mayhem, disruption, and even scaring little children just trying to get to school…

And Time decides that between the two, OWS is worthy of a cover? Really?

Does this visage look American to you?  Like mom, baseball, and apple pie?  Or more like jihadi, machete, and fear?

Why are they masked? Why hasn’t anyone in the mainstream media asked that question? OWS wears bandanas or these weird “Guy Falkes” masks – which are seriously creepy and not exactly warm-fuzzy-friendly, y’know?

Even if they wore “facial attire” that was “friendly” the simple fact that they feel compelled to hide their faces is indicative of shame, which is indicative of malice of intent.  You don’t stop and buy a mask before a spontaneous act for which you could be adjudged “innocent by reason of temporary insanity.”  Buying a mask or tying a cloth around your face shows pre-meditation, planning, and thought.  Tying it around your face and not, say, your neck like an adornment, or even your arm in a show of solidarity of some sort, shows that you want to remain anonymous in this bad thing you have been thinking about doing out in public…

Tea Party have been mocked for being a bunch of old fat white guys, and gals, on Social Security and waving flags.

I ask you: Would you rather have your 16 year old daughter spend a Saturday night with Tea Party or the person on this magazine cover?

Hmmm????

I found some more really scary Tea Party pix here. (I have no idea who these folks are.  Their pix are a good representation of the Tea Party as it really is, not as the media says it is, that’s all!)
